It is one of the towns on the so-called "Loneliest Highway in America", the stretch of US HWY 50 across most of Nevada that is known for its remoteness.


It is surrounded by farms and ranches, and the Lahontan Valley Wetlands – a birder’s paradise.


Fallon has a population of approximately 10,000 people and Churchill County 25,000. Fallon offers the outdoors, the arts, shops, and a menu of special events year round including Rodeos, a Summer Farmer’s Market, the Hearts of Gold Cantaloupe Festival, and the World Cowboy Fast Draw Championships.
